Students at the MATC Cosmetology School dressed in pink and gathered to bring awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

The students charged five dollars a hair-cut and four of the dollars went to the American Cancer Society. "We as women need to be aware of this disease," said Sue Remkes, instructor at the school. "We wanted to get the girls together to do something good for others who are affected by this."

Students participated in the event throughout the day and were excited for the opportunity to give back. "I know what we are doing here is for a good cause," said Sasha Keck, a student from Elk Ridge. "Every little bit helps and it makes us all more aware that this could affect us."

Brittney Wall, a student from Mapleton has a grandmother who was affected by the disease. "It is great that we can do something to help," said Wall.
