The Lady Red Devils, ranked #4, recently participated in the 4A Utah State Volleyball Tournament held at Utah Valley University. The Lady Red Devils had a tough first game which ended rough.
Because Springville took second in region, the team's seed placement was to play #5 Dixie first. Technically, the Lady Red Devils were swept, but this game was far from easy for Dixie.
The first game ended 18-25 with a Dixie win. In the second game, the Lady Red Devils established an early lead, 24-18, but ultimately lost the second game to Dixie, 25-27, in a tough set. The match ended in the third game with the Lady Red Devils losing 19-25 to the Flyers.
Springville then went into a consolation bracket where they faced and beat Uintah and Stansbury. The Lady Red Devils showed control over Uintah who they had a near miss with earlier in the season. Finally, Springville faced Olympus and lost in four. Every set played against Olympus was close. In each set, each team scored in the twenties making for an intense and close match.
Overall season record was 26 wins, 9 losses. The Lady Red Devils sought to win region and further place at state.
Springville's record proves they are one of the best teams in 4A play and they continue to turn out high quality athletes. Next year, Springville has high hopes for the team that will be led by strong hitters Kristin Clark and Turia Andrus.
