Recently at Mapleton Junior High School, Mrs. Rowley, Mrs. Ludlow, and Mr. Wetzel, Mapleton teachers, held an event called the Mountain Man Rendezvous.

The event was meant to show and teach students what life was like for a typical mountain man. At the Rendezvous there was a tomahawk throw, a story telling station, a craft station, a food station, and a game station.

At the tomahawk throw, the participants got tomahawks, little axes, and threw them at targets while those who watched had to stay behind the line so they didn't get hurt.

At the story telling station, there was a person who told stories about mountain men and their journeys. He brought pictures and other things to show about mountain men.

At the craft station there were people who volunteered to help teach the students how to make a dream catcher. While students were at the food station they got to eat biscuits with honey.

Last but not least, there was a game station. They played tug-a-war, hula hooped, and played a game where you sit down with your opponent face to face and hold on to a stick.

The person who pulls the other person up wins. The event gave the students the feeling that they were in the 1800s.
