Last week volunteers from the Mountain View Hospital in Payson held its annual officer installation banquet.

About 60 volunteers assembled in the High Chaparral Reception Center at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds.

Volunteer Coordinator Judy Stanton called the meeting to order and gave thanks to the hospital administration for their strong support of the volunteer program as well as expressing her appreciation for all the good work the volunteers do for the hospital staff and patients alike.

As usual, she couldn't resist the opportunity to tell some jokes, some of which were actually funny. Delayne Bing, dietary director at the hospital, and some of her staff from the hospital cafeteria had prepared a delicious meal.

During dinner, the group was entertained by long time Payson resident Kevin Elmer with a select group of western songs sprinkled with some homey chatter. It is interesting that while Kevin looks like a real cowboy, his actual job is as a Utah State Highway Patrolman.

It was nice to see many of the volunteers enjoying his music so much that they sang right along with him while eating their dinner.

Time for the installation arrived and Stanton called the 2010 officers forward to be officially installed. The new officers are: President: Annallee Johnson, Spanish Fork; 1st VP: Gerry Jensen, Payson; 2nd VP: Joane Madsen, Payson; Treasurer: Karma Whitelock, Payson; Secretary: Terrell Lunt, Woodland Hills

It was a pleasant evening for volunteers to gather together, chat and renew themselves away from the hospital. As each volunteer left for the evening, they were given a large bag of kettle corn and a stylish denim apron to be worn at future barbeques.
