Although Soccer got a late start in Eureka, about 30 enthusiastic kids signed up to play. This is the first time a soccer league has been formed in Eureka so the kids are learning techniques and rules as well as the adults who signed up to be coaches and officials. The Eureka soccer league was started by the City of Eureka under the direction of Mayor Milt Hanks.

There are 6 teams ranging in ages from 3 to 12 years old. Each team made up a name to represent them. Team Strikers (3 years to 6 years old) are Gordon Grimstead, Isabel Thornock, Andrew Boeckel, Ulises Thornock, and Skye Lea Jackson coached by Brandy Montgomery. They play against Team Mighty Mites; Aidan Young, Garrett Montgomery, Brierly Beck, Ethan Edwards, and Talesha Bills whose coach is Aaron Beck.

Team Thunderboltz (7 years to 9 years old); Makell Murdoch, Owen Larson, Lydia Boeckel, Alex Boeckel, and Madison Prince whose coach is Mark Boeckel. They play against Team Tintic Spikes; Mason Young, Ryder Bigler, Clayton Bills, Jeremy Pehrson, and Madison Price whose coach is Terrie Pehrson.

Team Wolf Pack (10 years to 12 years old); Jacob Thornock, Olivia Thornock, Layne Murdoch, Arnold Carlson, Niki Jackson and coach Bill Murdoch play against Team Blue Bombers; Andrew Grimstead, Noah Young, Chance Bills, Brennan Pulver, and Heather Pulver with their coach being Stephanie Grimstead.

Games are played every Wednesday at 4:00pm and Saturday at 9:00am behind the Eureka Elementary School. Games will be played for about 6 weeks or until there is too much snow.

Thanks goes out to all who is coaching, officiating, soccer moms, and parents. Without everyone participating the children of Eureka would not have this great opportunity to learn and play soccer.
