Mayor James DeGraffenried gathered with developers and financers to announce a new hotel and development project coming to the Santaquin area.

The development will include a 100-room Choice hotel, three restaurants, a business park and a grocery store. The three-story hotel will be located near the new Maverick built at 750 East Main Street.

The project is expected to break ground in the spring. The project will total 11 acres and should bring about 100 jobs to the area.

"We are pretty excited about this," said DeGraffenried. "It has been in the works for quite some time and we are excited to help create a good gateway to our community."

The hotel's developer is David Earnshaw of Earnshaw Enterprises. Earnshaw is negotiating with two national chain restaurants for the project.

"Santaquin City has been so good to work with," said Earnshaw. "I appreciate the relationships with them. They have been a great help to us and I appreciate that."

Earnshaw is working with Capstone Consulting to help finance the project which should take about one year to complete.
