What is a Crèche?
Crèche is a French word that has long been used as a universal term to describe the Nativity. It is an artistic representation of the birth of Jesus. People seek to capture the Nativity in a personal, meaningful way.
A Crèche may be an elaborate masterpiece or a child's simple creation made from clay. Many Crèches are a unique reflection of differing worldwide cultures, but each expresses the artist's awe and joy in the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Christmas has become so commercialized; the Crèche draws our thought to the real meaning for rejoicing. May we always remember that the true reason for Christmas is the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
***
The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual, forms a bridge between the sharers which can be the basis for understanding much of what is not shared between them, and lessens the threat of their difference.
